Purpose of the Templates

Templates allow AsInt to provide need requirements to users around the globe. Additionally, templates allow for users to modify the data you want to track, without changing the source code.

In some cases, the templates are standardized, but in other cases (for example an Inspection Template) they vary from customer to customer.

Templates allow AsInt to globally address customer needs, while allowing users to scale their business needs.

There are templates for:

  1. Equipment and Locations

  2. Groups and Systems

  3. Checklists

  4. Inspections

  5. RCM

  6. FMEA

  7. Risk and Criticality

  8. etc…

Adding a Template to an Equipment or Location

Follow the below steps to assign templates to Equipment or Locations.

Step 1 – Tap the Equipment or Location App and browse for a piece of equipment

Step 2 – Open the Equipment and tap the “Edit” button on Information tab of the Equipment in the Datasheet section.

Step 3 – Add the IDMS_FIXED_ EQUIPMENT_EXTERNAL (or whatever template you are looking for) template to the equipment by tapping the “Add Template” button.

How Templates are used for Data Sheet

The templates added will populate summary information on the Equipment or Location as “Cards”

Template are the core data store for persisting data against the Equipment or Taxonomy.

How Templates are for Asset Strategy (RBI for example)

Based on the template added to the Equipment or Location, it will define what Asset Strategy Assessment to be available in the RBI (Asset Strategy) App.

In the diagram, you can see the Equipment Template “BUNDLE_EQUIPMENT_5813rd” is assigned to the Equipment, which could also be a location. When the user created a new Inspection against the Equipment, the “API 5813rd Bundle” assessment is available.

How Templates are used for Inspection Management

Based on the template added to the Equipment or Location, it will define what Inspection (Activity) to be available in the Inspection App against the Equipment or Location.

In the diagram, you can see the Equipment Template “IDMS_PRESSURE” is assigned to the Equipment, which could also be a location. When the user created a new Inspection against the Equipment, the “Pressure Equipment Inspection Report” is provided.

How Templates are used for CMLs

Based on the template added to the Equipment or Location, it will define what CML types are available to be added against the Equipment or Location.

In the diagram, you can see the Location Template “PIPE_CML” is assigned to the Location, which could also be an Equipment. When the user creates a new CML against the Equipment, the appropriate CML types are allocated.

Create a Simple Equipment Template

Step 1 - Navigate to the Template App within the Fiori Launch Pad.

Step 2 - Choose the Equipment card.

Step 3 - Tap “New” and provide a Template_ID, Description, and Long Description.

Step 4 - After adding a new template, in the upper right, tap Add Attribute group.

Note, you can also select from an existing list of attribute groups.

Step 5 - Give the Attribute Group Name and ID, Description, and Long Description.

Step 6 - On the Attribute Group, tap Edit.

Note, you can have many attribute groups, in this case, there is only one.

Step 7 - Tap “Add” on the attribute group to add new attributes.

Step 8 - Tap “New” to add the new Attribute.

Step 9 - Provide the details of the attribute, including the description, data type, unit of measurement, etc…Tap “OK”

Step 10 - Tap “Save” on the Attribute Group, the template is complete.

Step 11 - Now you can add the template to an Equipment.

Step 12 - Once the template is added, you can start recording data against the attributes.

Create a Simple Inspection Template

Step 1 - Tap the “Inspection Templates” app within the launch pad.

Step 2 - Tap the “Checklist” card.

Step 3 - In the upper right, tap the “New Button” and provide:

  • Description

  • Long Description

  • make it Relevant for “Equipment”

  • Choose “Simple Checklist.”

Step 4 - Tap “Assignments”, tap “Assign” and choose Equipment Template.

Step 5 - Choose the Equipment template you created in prior activity above.

Step 6 - Provide the Checklist details, the most important being:

  • Update Master Data = Yes

Step 7 - You will now see the Equipment Template assigned.

Step 8 - Tap the “Sections” tab, tap “Add Sections”

Step 9 - Choose a section, in this case. I have chosen “Header”.

Note, you may need to create a new section vs choosing from an existing set.

Step 10 - Select the Section you added.

Step 11 - Tap “Assign Questions”, in this case, I have chose “Summary”.

Note, you may need to create a new question vs choosing from an existing set.

Step 12 - Tap Attributes hyperlink, tap “Assign”

Step 13 - You will see the Attribute Group assigned to the Equipment Template. Select the attribute group.

Step 14 - Select All attributes, tap “Assign”

Step 15 - Tap “Assign Header” tab.

Step 16 - Select the values, the template will need a Date attribute to assign, tap “Save”.

Step 17 - Tap “Thresholds” and select number of thresholds of 2, tap “Save”



Step 18 - Tap “Publish” in the upper left.

Step 19 - You will be prompted to create an announcement, select “no”.



Step 20 - Now you can navigate to the Inspection App, and create an Inspection against an Equipment that has the assigned Equipment template associated with it.

Step 21 - Fill in the details of the Inspection creation, you should see your new Inspection template as an option.

Step 22 - On creation, you should see your inspection template fields available.
