Prerequisites

Equipment or Location will need the designated Activity (Inspection) template assigned to it. For example, Visual Inspection, Thickness Inspection, Operator Round, etc…

Purpose of the Inspection

To record, or document, Inspection or Activity results. This is typically a digital record, often with attachments. Some users will treat this as the system of record, while others will want to print off a hard copy of system of record.

Anatomy of an Inspection

There are seven basic parts to the Inspection (Activity), they are:

  1. Taxonomy - Equipment, Component, or Location the event is being recorded against.

  2. Header - When, background information, materials, devices, summaries, etc…

  3. Checklist - Typically an itemized list of categories to check and record data against (bolting, flanges, temperatures, etc..). Optional information.

  4. Condition Monitoring Locations (CMLs) - Optional to bring in readings of locations.

  5. Documents/Photos - Attachments such as images, drawings, etc…

  6. Components - Optional components associated with the parent Equipment or Location.

  7. Maintenance and Service

    • Instructions - If the event was driven via predefined scheduled work, an instruction of the activity will be provided.

    • Notifications - Create, add, view notifications associated with the Inspection.

    • Work-orders - Create, add, view work orders associated with the Inspection.

Creating an Inspection

Step 1 - Select the AsInt “Inspections” App. A list of historical inspections is displayed.

Step 2 - In the upper right of the table, tap New and select “Equipment”, or “Location” menu option.

Step 3 - A dialog will present itself with the following fields. Once the below fields are filled, tap “Create”.

Description – Add a free text description 

Equipment or Location – Tap “Select ” and search or browse for the Equipment or Location.

Checklist Template – Will auto populate to “Pressure Vessel External”, if not, please select it.

Step 4 - You may get the “Assign Components” dialog, if so, please “skip” this. We will cover components at a later stage.

Step 5 - Tap the “Edit” button in the upper right of the “Information” tab. 

Step 6 - Fill in some values on the header, role, checklist, etc…

Step 7 - Tap “Save”, then tap “Done”

Adding Components to an Inspection


Displaying Attributes on the Component

When adding Components to the Inspection Report, there may be some additional attribution to display as part of component within the Report.

Attributes can be configured to display on the component form, as well as the printed PDF.

Editing an Inspection

You can edit the various parts of the inspection by tapping “Edit” on each section. Please note once the Inspection is “Published”, it cannot be edited.

Deleting an Inspection

Deleting the Inspection (Activity) permanently deletes event from the SAP tenant, it is not recoverable. Please note once the Inspection is “Published”, it cannot be deleted.

Publishing an Inspection

Step 1 - Ensure you are in the Inspection just created and tap the “Publish” button in the upper right, a message is shown confirming you would like to “Publish” the Inspection record.

Step 2 - When the publish process is complete, you will receive this message.

Assigning Notifications and Work Orders post Publish

Often, the Inspection is completed and published before the users have a chance to assign Notifications and Work Orders. This feature will enable the “Assign” button for both Notifications and Work Orders, even though the Inspection is Published.

Printing an Inspection to PDF

Exporting the Inspection Header details to MS Excel

Along with the Inspection Header (who, when, what), the users can also export the Inspection Header details to MS Excel from the Asset Inspection App.

NOTE: The feature can be slow due to access the data SAP Master Data, please ensure there is a filter applied. Exporting thousands of records can take 5 minutes or more.

To export the data, follow the below steps:

  1. Tap the Asset Inspection App.

  2. In the upper right corner of the table data, tap “Export Data” and further select “Export Summary”

This will begin the process of exporting the data to MS Excel.
